They do some good craft ales at the NT bar on the south bank. They have a sign on the wall

Heavily hopped beer needs lots of malt to get balance. That's why they are generally around 6-9% in strength

What is "craft beer"?

It's overpriced beer for mugs.

Having said that, if it encourages more people to drink beer and to stop pubs from closing, then I'm all for it.

You keep just saying that it does mean something. You've made no attempt to actually say what it means.

I'm not being a smug know-it-all, I'm just stating a fact. Big breweries make 'craft' beer, small breweries make 'craft' beer. There is no definition for what goes in it, or how it is made. It is simply a marketing term designed to make the consumer think they're drinking something more special than what someone else is drinking. And it works!

'Craft beer' does not mean anything.

Yeah Frankie, I should have said all the stuff I've tried has been over-hopped and therefore unpleasantly abrupt and one-dimensional.

That's why I described it as Fairy Liquid, and not because you clearly enjoy it.

Hammer & Pickle...

American Craft brewing is superb, so benders like you need not comment.

Proper IPA is generally very nice indeed and I had some lovely stuff before it became trendy.

All the American junk is like Fairy Liquid though not effective at washing your dishes.

Enjoy those beers and I hope you get your balls tickled in San Fran.

Re: What is "craft beer"?
IPAs were heavily hopped beers making them strong and bitter. They were heavily hopped so they'd last the journey from Burton to India without going off.
An APA is an American pale ale. That's a pale ale made in America.
An American IPA is a highly hoped pale ale made in America but is often now made in the UK. What the Americans did is use American hops and American yeast which is different.

Mate it's got nothing to do with what you do for work. The words represent something and are therefore not meaningless. You may not agree with that something but to dismiss it as meaningless is very narrow minded.

Actually, I think a simple Google just backs me up.

As I said, it's a completely meaningless term, which is why they had to think up a definition and criteria.

I don't think I'm 'cool' for dismissing it. I'm simply making a point. If you knew what I did for a living you'd probably respect my point a bit more. I do know what I'm talking about.

No, but its a process of brewing that produced beer was suited to the indian climate.

The term "American IPA" gets right on my fucking tits.

Its Indian Pale Ale. Therefore unless its made by American Indians, its fucking IPA.

Just because you feel it's cool to dismiss it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist - I think a simple Google will tell you it does.
